Thank you to those who spoke up about abuse of power with sexual harassment.
There's a broader, more widespread form of abuse that keeps people down at work that's 4x more common than sexual harassment. It's called workplace bullying — verbal abuse, sabotage, and other mistreatment. It derails careers, health, jobs, marriages, and bank accounts.
Experts estimate 60-80 percent of workplace bullying targets are women and non-white workers, meaning it's a subtle form of sexism, racism, and any other -ism designed to keep groups in power. These groups are most often incompetent, unethical managers who feel threatened by competent, ethical subordinates.
Time's up on workplace bullying. It needs to stop.
